A weekly or fortnightly collection of bed linen and towels, ironed and folded, plus the bulky items that come round once or twice a year: winter duvets, bedspreads, blankets that have been in a wardrobe since April, and curtains from a flat facing the Tagus that catch dust and salt. Buildings in Cacilhas and Almada Velha with four floors and no lift are part of the job, so we plan the collection around the stairs instead of asking you to carry bags down. Everything is sorted per client before it goes near a machine. Hotel-white bed linen and towels are washed hot enough to matter; coloured cottons, linen mixes and anything delicate are washed at the temperature they can survive. Nothing is pooled with another client's load. Expat owners and residents are a large share of our Almada work, often people who arrived without a tumble dryer and had no idea where to take a duvet. We coordinate in English, French or Portuguese, and can deal directly with the co-host who holds the keys.
