Laundry & Linen Service in Alfama
Alfama is the hardest neighbourhood in Lisboa to run linen in, and everyone who lets a flat here knows it. Vans do not reach most doors. Half the addresses are up a flight of escadinhas, the other half are on a lane where stopping for two minutes blocks everything behind you. Add flats of barely one room where there is no cupboard to store spare sheets, and turnovers that happen every single day of the season, and linen becomes the daily bottleneck. We collect on foot where we have to, agree a meeting point where the alley is impossible, and bring back washed, ironed sets from replacement stock that we hold rather than you.

About our service in Alfama
The practical reason owners in Castelo, Sé and Mouraria hand their linen over is storage, not laziness. A rotation needs three sets per bed to be comfortable: the one in use, the clean one waiting, and the one being treated. Very few Alfama flats have space for three sets of anything. So we keep the reserve at the workshop and deliver the clean set to the flat for the turnover, taking the dirty one away in the same movement. The cleaner arrives to linen already there, makes the beds and goes. Nobody is standing in a doorway on the Escadinhas de São Miguel with a bin bag of sheets and a phone in the other hand. How we physically reach you is agreed once, at the start. For some addresses that means carrying bags up by hand from the nearest point a vehicle can stop. For others it means the ground-floor neighbour, the key-holder or the cleaner meeting us at a fixed spot at a fixed time. Tell us the door, the number of steps and where a van can pause when you ask for a quote, because in this neighbourhood that is the whole logistics question. These buildings are also old and damp, which changes what the linen needs. Stone walls, shaded lanes and windows that open onto a shaft mean a flat here dries nothing well in winter, and a set folded away slightly damp will smell musty by the time a guest unfolds it. That is a large part of why workshop drying matters more here than the washing itself. Bed linen and towels come back dry through and through, pressed, folded and bagged, and stay that way in a dry store until the turnover they are meant for. Owners who live abroad get the same arrangement, coordinated with whoever holds the keys, in Portuguese, English or French.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we get asked about linen in Alfama:
There is no vehicle access to my building. How does collection actually happen?
On foot, and it is normal here. We park where parking is possible and carry the bags up and down the steps, or we agree a meeting point with your cleaner or key-holder if the lane genuinely cannot be walked with a load. That is settled before the first collection so it is not improvised on a busy turnover morning.
My studio has nowhere to keep spare sheets. Does rotation still work?
That is the situation this is built for. The reserve sets live at our workshop, not in your flat, and the clean one is delivered for the turnover that needs it. You keep one set on the bed and nothing else, which in a one-room Alfama flat is usually the only version that fits.
The flat gets damp in winter and the linen smells of it. Can that be fixed?
Washing it here and drying it properly at the workshop deals with the smell itself, because musty odour comes from fabric that never dried right through. Keeping it out of the flat until it is needed, in a dry bagged store, is the other half. What we cannot do is dry the building; if a wardrobe is wet through, the linen inside it will pick that up again.
