Seats are where the judgement lies, because fabric, leather and Alcantara are three different jobs and treating them as one ruins at least two of them. Fabric is cleaned by extraction: a solution is worked into the weave and drawn back out with the dirt it has released, which is the only way to reach anything that has soaked in. It leaves the material damp, and it genuinely needs to air before the car goes back into normal use. Doors open while we finish, windows left ajar afterwards where that is safe. In high summer this is barely an inconvenience; on a grey, damp Moita morning in February it takes considerably longer, and we would rather tell you that in advance than have you shut a wet car up and find it musty. Leather is the opposite. It wants a pH-neutral cleaner and a light touch, never the all-purpose degreaser that lifts dirt beautifully on day one and leaves the hide dried out and cracking a season later. Alcantara and suede-type trim are more delicate still and are handled on their own terms, not swept along with the rest of the cabin. Before any of that, everything loose comes out and the whole car is vacuumed: footwells, under the seats, the runners, the boot, the parcel shelf. We ask you to remove anything valuable or personal first, partly so nothing can be mislaid and partly because a glovebox full of documents slows us down. Child seats should come out too. We will clean the upholstery underneath them, which is where the crumbs and spilt juice always end up, but we do not put them back afterwards, because how a seat is anchored is a safety decision that properly belongs to the owner and not to the person cleaning the car. Outside, the car is washed with very little water, and nothing is allowed to run off across the pavement or into the road drain.

My seats are cloth and quite stained. Will it all come out?
A lot will. Extraction reaches what has soaked into the weave and usually lifts food, drink and general grime well. Old dye transfer from clothing, sun-bleached patches and anything that has been left for years may only lighten. We look at the seats before starting and tell you what we expect, so you can decide whether it is worth doing.
Is it a problem if I need the car straight afterwards?
Tell us when you book. If the car has to be used soon after, we can concentrate on the dry side of the work, or clean fabric more lightly so it dries faster. What we will not do is hand back a soaked interior and tell you it is fine. Damp fabric shut into a closed car is how a clean interior starts smelling worse than before.
Do I need to be there while you work?
Not necessarily, as long as we can reach the vehicle and it is unlocked or the keys are arranged. Most Moita customers stay nearby because it is done at their own gate. Either way, please take out valuables, documents and any child seat beforehand, and we will go through the finished car with you if you are around.
