Pest Control in Algés

About our service in Algés

Pest control in Algés almost always begins in the drainage system rather than in the room where the insect was seen. The oriental cockroach, the larger, slower one that turns up on a bathroom or kitchen floor, lives in the sewers and climbs the building's stack looking for dry space. The area has every condition for it: buildings decades old, pipework in older materials with open joints, and a low level near the river, so any change in the network pushes what is down there upwards. The clearest sign is the timing, a single insect seen at night on a cold floor, and the most common way in is a gully whose trap has dried out through lack of use, in a service bathroom or an enclosed balcony. So the work starts by closing routes. We check traps and have water run through the dry ones, suggest non-return gullies where they are missing, seal badly finished pipe entries behind toilets and appliances, and inspect the building's inspection chamber and grease trap. Only once the routes are dealt with does application make sense, and it is done along the lines of travel, meaning chambers, pipework, the back of sanitary fittings and the skirting in wet rooms, rather than across open floor space. For rats the principle is the same but less forgiving: one broken chamber cover or a disconnected downpipe undoes everything else. In Algés and Miraflores a great deal of commercial ground floor sits beneath housing, with kitchens, cold rooms and grease traps connected to the same stacks as the flats. When that is the source, treating only the floor above brings short relief. We explain plainly what depends on us and what depends on the business or the management committee, and we can speak directly to whoever runs the premises to arrange work covering both sides. We always leave in writing what was sealed, what was treated and what remains unresolved.
