I moved into a room with a mattress somebody else used. Can it be made hygienic?

In most cases yes, and it is the request we get most often in this area. A deep clean with a sanitising treatment on both faces removes body residue, dust and the mites feeding on it, and extraction leaves the mattress far drier and fresher than bedding alone ever could. Where it will not work is a mattress that is soaked through, collapsed or has been stored damp long enough for growth inside it. We check first and tell you honestly.

Four of us share the flat. Can you do all the bedrooms in one day?

We can clean them all in one day, but nobody would have a dry bed that night, so we normally advise against it. The usual solution is two visits: half the rooms now, the rest later in the week, or the living room and rugs on the first visit and the bedrooms on the second. Let us know the sleeping arrangements when you book, because working that out in advance is far easier than at bedtime.

The sofa came from the previous tenant and smells of someone else's home. Will that go?

Usually, because that smell lives in the fabric and the foam rather than on the surface, and a rinse-and-extract clean reaches it. Cooking odours, cigarette smoke that has soaked into the weave and general staleness all improve significantly, though heavy long-term smoke in an old foam cushion can leave a trace.
