In Lisbon, most of the requests we get do not start with a difficult form. They start with a simple question: who actually handles this? One single matter can involve Finanças (the tax office) for your registered address, Segurança Social (social security) for a NISS (your social security number), the conservatória (the registry office) for a certificate, and the junta de freguesia (your parish council) for proof of residence — and each one has its own rules for opening hours and appointments. So the first thing we do is read what you already have at home, work out what is missing and write down the steps in the right order. Very often what looked like a problem is solved by one well-prepared request at the correct desk, rather than by four separate trips across town. From there the work is practical. We check that your documents are still valid, set up your Chave Móvel Digital (the digital mobile key used to log in to state services) if you do not yet have one, book the services that only see people by appointment, and put together a folder with everything that will be asked for at the counter, photocopies included. On the day we come with you, whether that is in Avenidas Novas, the Baixa, Arroios or wherever the appointment has been made. If a receipt or a notification is still outstanding afterwards, we keep following it up instead of leaving the case half done. We also sort out post that has piled up, separating what carries a deadline from what is simply for information. There is one limit we make a point of stating before we begin. We assist and accompany you, but we do not replace a lawyer (advogado), a legal agent (solicitador) or a certified accountant (contabilista certificado). We give no legal or tax advice and we promise no outcome, because the decision belongs to the public body. What we do guarantee is that your request arrives complete, on time and correctly filled in, which is where most cases get stuck. When a matter genuinely needs a qualified professional we say so plainly. We work in Portuguese, English and French.
