Moving house looks like a logistical question and is mostly an administrative one. The address has to be changed at Finanças (the tax office), at Segurança Social (social security), on the citizen's card, on the vehicle registration, at the bank, at the insurer, at the school and on the water, power and internet contracts — and each one has its own form and its own proof. Miss just one and months later a notification lands at the old address. We draw up the full list of bodies to notify, handle the changes that can be made online and prepare the ones that need a signed form or the holder in person. At the same time we support two things that come up in nearly every one of these households. The first is nursery and after-school applications, with the proofs of address, income and vaccination that each place asks for in a different format. The second is employing someone to help in the house or with the children: registering the worker under the domestic employment scheme at Segurança Social, plus the monthly declarations and receipts, done properly rather than put off. On the limits we are direct. We fill in, organise and submit, but we are not lawyers (advogados) or certified accountants (contabilistas certificados): we do not draft employment contracts, we give no legal opinion on the working relationship and no tax advice on contributions. When a case calls for one of those professionals, we say so and leave the documents ready for that appointment. Nor do we guarantee nursery places or decisions by public bodies: what we do guarantee is a complete application, valid supporting documents and submission within the deadline, which is where most cases fail. At the end we hand over a list of the dates that come round again next year, so you are not starting from scratch.
