About our service in Estoril
Estoril combines two conditions that wear a drainage system out: age and sea air. Many villas and buildings in the area still have original runs in cast iron and salt-glazed clay, and salt-laden air, damp and the sand carried in from outdoor showers and shoes speed up corrosion and abrasion from the inside. The result is a thinner pipe wall, with scale catching residue and, at times, cracks that have not yet shown themselves. In that state, applying jetting at full pressure, as you would on a recent plastic pipe, is the quickest way to turn a blockage into a leak. Our practice is to match the method to what the pipe will take. Before the machine goes on, we try to establish the age of the installation, look at the material visible in the chambers and, where there is any doubt, run the camera through. With tired pipework we work at reduced pressure with a suitable nozzle, in successive passes, which takes longer but does not put the run at risk. We also say clearly when the limit has been reached: there are drains on which no clearing will last, only replacement, and that is a conversation better had before the work than after water has come through a neighbour's wall. What actually blocks is fairly predictable. In houses near the sea, sand and salt building up in patio gullies and outdoor showers; in kitchens, fat; in bathrooms, hair and toiletries. On properties with gardens, leaves and roots in the chambers as well. To customers who only use the house part of the year we suggest running water through every outlet on arrival, to refill traps that have dried out and head off the smell that is usually the first complaint. We work Monday to Saturday, from nine in the morning to eight in the evening, with priority for anyone whose water is already spilling over.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about pipe unclogging in Estoril:
Can jetting damage old pipework?
It can, if used at full pressure on a pipe that is already thin or cracked. That is why we assess the material and its condition first, and work at reduced pressure over several passes when the installation calls for it.
Does beach sand really block drains?
It does. It settles in the bottom of traps and outdoor gullies, where the water does not carry it away, and gradually reduces the bore. In houses near the sea it is one of the most useful cleans to do regularly.
How is the quote set?
By the type of blockage, the condition and material of the pipework, the access, and whether a camera survey is needed. We assess from photographs on WhatsApp or on a site visit and present a no-obligation quote.
