Septic Tank Cleaning in Algés
Algés has no septic tanks: it has low ground. The stretch between Dafundo and the centre sits at the bottom of a basin draining to the Tejo, and that explains the basements full of sewage, the sump chambers under load and the emergency calls on heavy rain days.

About our service in Algés
The drainage network serves the whole area, so anyone looking for a tanker here has one of two problems. The first is a basement, garage or shop below road level that has flooded. That happens when it rains hard and the sewer backs up, when the pump serving that floor has stopped working, or when both coincide, which is the usual scenario. In those cases the tanker is there to shift volume quickly, taking the waste water off the slab and out of the collection chamber so damage can be assessed, the space dried and repairs made. The second problem is the opposite: waste will not drain in a building on the mains. There is nothing to empty there, there is a blockage to clear, and we say so instead of sending a vehicle that will not solve it. Emergency work in a flooded basement has an order worth respecting. First stop the source, if it is a failed pump or a valve, because vacuuming with the inflow open is working against the clock. Then take out the volume, starting from the lowest point. Only then clean and disinfect surfaces, and check what has been submerged: consumer units, gate motors, storage. We are not the ones who repair the electrical installation, but we leave the space fit for the electrician to enter and tell them what we saw. In buildings with individual storage units we notify the managing agent, because access to each unit depends on the owners and that governs how long the job takes. There is also a preventive side, which in Algés makes more sense than almost anywhere. A sump chamber with sludge in it works badly and fails early; a collection grating blocked with leaves turns a predictable downpour into a flood. Cleaning the chamber, the collection box and the floor gratings before autumn avoids most of the emergency calls we take in November. The waste we vacuum out goes to a licensed treatment plant, with the record handed to the building or the business.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about flooding and drainage in Algés:
My garage floods whenever it rains hard. What can be done?
First work out whether it is surface water coming in, a backflow from the sewer or a pump that cannot keep up. Each has a different answer. Vacuuming settles the episode; what prevents the next one is cleaning the chamber and the gratings before autumn.
The building is on the mains and sewage backed up. Do you need to bring a tanker?
Only if there is standing volume to remove. If the backflow has stopped and the issue is the blockage, the right service is drain cleaning. We ask that on the phone so we do not make a journey that serves no purpose.
How is the quote set in an emergency?
By the estimated volume, the floor level and hose distance involved, the state of what was flooded and whether cleaning afterwards is needed. Even in a rush we say what we are going to do first and give a no-obligation quote.
