Salt and pollen respond to water and patience, not to force. We soak the glass with demineralised water and bring it away with a soft brush at a controlled flow, going back over anything that has baked on rather than leaning harder on the surface. High pressure has no place on a panel: pressed against a frame joint it can drive water through the seal towards the wiring behind the module. Abrasive pads, blades and gritty pastes are equally out, because the anti-reflective layer on the glass is only microns thick and cannot be restored once it has been rubbed dull. Nor do we reach for acidic or alkaline cleaners. Beyond the damage itself, aggressive cleaning is one of the standard reasons a manufacturer refuses a warranty claim, and that is a poor trade for a quicker job. Demineralised water also has the practical merit of drying without the chalky spotting hard mains water leaves behind. When we come matters too. Glass that has been in full sun since morning is hot enough that cold water is a shock to it, and thermal shock is how micro-cracks start. We book Belém visits for early morning or the end of the afternoon, or for a dull day, and we would rather reschedule than rush a hot roof. Getting to the panels is planned before anything else. Depending on the building we use a ladder with a harness and anchor line, a small platform, or a telescopic pole worked from the ground or the terrace when the rows are within reach. We do not walk on the modules and we do not step onto old corrugated fibre-cement sheeting: it is brittle, it may contain asbestos, and either we find another way in or we tell you we cannot do it. The visit finishes with a proper look at what we have cleaned. Frames wiped, drainage clear, leaves and feathers pulled from under the rows, and a note on anything that concerns us. Cracked glass, delamination, a scorched connector or a cable rubbed bare goes back to you in writing so your installer or an electrician can deal with it. We are cleaners, not electricians.
