Solar Panel Cleaning in Carcavelos
Carcavelos has the widest beach on this stretch of coast and, on a windy day, the sand goes everywhere. Panels a few streets back from the seafront routinely carry a gritty deposit alongside the salt haze that comes with it, and the two together are worse than either alone: the salt film holds the sand in place instead of letting it blow away. Gulls patrol the whole area. The housing runs from apartment blocks near the station and the Junqueiro area to villas up towards Rebelva and Sassoeiros, so we see both single-household arrays and shared rooftop installations. Arranja Já travels out to wash them properly.

About our service in Carcavelos
Grit is the reason we are so insistent about method here. Sand on glass and a brush pushed hard is essentially sandpaper, and the anti-reflective coating on a module will not survive that treatment. So the sequence is always the same: wet the surface generously with demineralised water first, let the deposit float rather than drag, then bring a soft brush through at controlled pressure and rinse. Never a pressure washer, because high-pressure water at a frame joint can pass the seal and reach the electrical connections behind the module. Never an abrasive, never a scraper, never an acidic or alkaline cleaner. Aside from ruining the surface, aggressive cleaning gives a manufacturer every reason to reject a warranty claim on the array, which is a poor outcome for the sake of finishing an hour sooner. Demineralised water is not a luxury on a coastal roof. Mains water dries into limescale spotting, and on dark glass those spots are visible and become the seed for the next layer of grime. Demineralised water dries off clean. Timing is fixed by the heat. We do not put cold water on glass that has been in the sun since morning, because thermal shock risks micro-cracks in the cells, so Carcavelos jobs are booked for early morning, late afternoon, or a cloudy day. The access decision comes before anything else. Villas usually take a ladder with a harness and anchor line, or a platform; a shared block roof is often walkable and simpler; and where rows sit low, a telescopic pole from the terrace does the job with nobody on the roof at all. We do not stand on the modules and we do not encourage anybody to climb up for a look. Old corrugated fibre-cement roofing on a shed or garage is a hard no: it is brittle and may contain asbestos. We finish by taking the sand out of the frame channels and from beneath the rows, clearing the drainage, and reporting on the state of the glass, seals and clamps. Anything electrical, from a scorched connector to a chafed cable, is photographed and referred to your installer or an electrician.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we get from customers in Carcavelos:
Can I not just hose the sand off myself?
A hose alone will move some of it, but the salt film underneath stays and mains water dries into spotting. The bigger issue is the roof: wet panels are slippery, the modules are not walkable, and this is not a job worth a fall. Leave the height to people with the harness.
How quickly do panels dirty this close to the beach?
Faster than inland, and it depends on your exposure to the wind more than on your distance from the sand. Rather than a fixed schedule, look at the glass at the end of the dry season: if there is an even grey-brown cast to it, it is time.
Our output has not improved after a clean. What now?
Then dirt was not the problem, and we will say so. Permanent shading, poor orientation, a fault in the inverter or a module reaching the end of its life all show up this way. That is your installer's territory and we would rather point you there than sell you another clean.
