The cover was never the problem. Urine passes through the ticking into the foam or the fibre layer below, and nothing applied to the surface reaches it. Can you get dog hair and the dog smell out of a fabric sofa?
Hair, yes, and far more of it than you expect, because we extract mechanically before any water goes near it. Wetting hair first mats it into the weave and makes everything harder. The smell comes from oils in the fabric and responds to a deodorising treatment during the clean, not to a spray afterwards. If your dog uses the same cushion daily it will build up again, and periodic cleaning is the realistic answer rather than a permanent fix.
We only have one living room. When can we use the sofa again?
Not the same evening, if we are being straight with you. Extraction rinses the fabric and it stays damp for hours, longer in a small room with the windows closed. Open them, get some air across the room and the seats are usually fine to use the next day. If that is impossible, tell us and we will look at cleaning half the pieces on one visit and the rest on another so you always have somewhere to sit.
