Frequent mist, high humidity and vegetation close by encourage leaves to gather and mould to develop in the coil and the condensate tray. We mount the outdoor unit clear of the ground and away from shrubs, with the drain unobstructed, and at service time we pay particular attention to cleaning the evaporator and the tray, which is the usual source of the musty smell when a unit starts up after months standing idle.
