Leaves and seed cases collect in the scuttle below the windscreen and in the channels around the tailgate, they rot down into a black sludge and they block the drains that are supposed to carry the water away. We clear those out as a matter of course, along with the door shuts and the fuel filler recess, which are the parts of a car that never see a hose anyway. The wash itself uses very little water and leaves nothing running down the street.
