Does the condomínio need to know?

If the garage is shared, yes. It is common property and the building should not be surprised to find someone working next to a neighbour's space. Clearing it beforehand takes one message. It helps that we use almost no water, since what buildings usually object to is hoses and water going into the garage gully, and neither happens with us.

I have a high-roof van. Can you do it in the garage?

Often not, and that is worth checking before the day rather than after. Older underground parking here can be low, and even where the van fits there may not be room to work around and above it. In that case we do the vehicle outside, on the street or at your workplace, which for a van is usually easier anyway.
