What happens to a car left alone by the sea is predictable. The outside collects a salt film, pine needles in the scuttle and resin spots that harden in the sun. The inside is worse and quieter about it. A cabin that has not been opened in six weeks holds the smell of whatever was last in it, damp finds its way into the carpets from a boot closed on something wet or from condensation running down the inside of the glass, and the seat fabric holds it all. Opening the doors for an afternoon helps but does not fix it, because the moisture is in the material rather than the air. The work is straightforward once you are there. The interior is vacuumed through before any surface is touched, the mats come out, the boot is emptied and done properly, and fabric that has gone damp or musty is extracted and then left to air with the doors open. Plastics, vents, the headlining edges, the glass inside and out. On the exterior, a low-water wash lifts the salt and dust, and resin spots get patient attention rather than force. How long anything takes to dry afterwards depends on the day, the breeze and the shade, so we will tell you what we see rather than give you a number that turns out to be wrong. One thing we are careful never to claim. We clean cars, we do not disinfect them and we make no health or hygiene claims about a cabin we have worked on. A vehicle we leave is visibly clean, smells better than it did and is far pleasanter to sit in, and that is the whole of the promise. Anyone telling you a valet sterilises an interior is selling you something else. We also do no bodywork, no dent work, no paint correction and no mechanical work of any kind.
