Most of the cars we clean here are somebody's daily vehicle, which means we get to know their contents. That is why we ask two things of every customer before we start. Take out anything valuable: paperwork, chargers, sunglasses, loose cash, anything in the glovebox or centre console you would not hand to a stranger. We are careful and we put back what we move, but valuables belong with their owner, and it removes an awkward conversation from a job that should be simple. The second is child seats, and here we are firm. We ask for them to be lifted out before we arrive, because underneath a child seat is where the crushed biscuits, the sand and the spilled drinks actually live and there is no reaching it otherwise. And we do not put them back afterwards. How a seat is anchored, whether an Isofix leg has clicked home, how a top tether is routed and how tightly a belt is fed through the guides, is a safety judgement that belongs to the person responsible for the child in it. A valeter signing that off would be doing the family no favours. You take them out, we clean underneath, you refit them. Once the cabin is clear the work follows its usual order. Vacuum before surfaces, mats out and done separately, seat runners and console gaps by hand, then the boot, then plastics, vents and the touch points that go grey with handling, then glass last of all. Outside, a low-water wash lifts the river grit off the paint and out of the rubbers with no hose and nothing running away across the car park. What we do not offer is bodywork, dent removal or any promise about scratches and paintwork, and we do not pressure wash engine bays. We clean cars, and we say clearly where cleaning stops.
