We use real audio from the first lesson, repeated and then transcribed, until the student sees that the problem was recognition rather than vocabulary. This is the single change that makes daily life start to feel manageable, and it usually happens within a couple of months of regular work. The third priority is the habit of staying in Portuguese once a conversation has started. In Lisbon, almost everyone switches to English the moment they detect an accent, which is well meant and makes learning considerably harder. We teach the phrases that keep a conversation going, and we practise managing the moment when you have not understood without abandoning the exchange altogether. These are small social skills and they decide how much Portuguese you actually hear in a week. We work Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and we are closed on Sunday.
