Land Clearing in Parque das Nações
Parque das Nações is the newest district in the city and it was planned street by street, so there is no wild ground in the way people imagine. Saying so is more useful than inventing scrubland along the Passeio do Tejo. The clearing work that does exist here is specific: plots between the towers around Cabo Ruivo and the northern edge that are still waiting on a building project and have filled with growth, ground-floor and terrace gardens in the residential blocks that were let go, and older pockets over towards Olivais Sul that predate the Expo layout. We cover the district and quote from what we see.

About our service in Parque das Nações
The annual clearing duty follows land ownership, and a new district changes nothing about it. Portuguese wildfire prevention rules oblige landowners to clear vegetation yearly and to keep managed strips around any building on the plot, and the câmara municipal checks and may commission the work where an owner has not acted. Development plots held between phases are exactly the kind of land that goes unwatched, particularly where the owner is a company rather than a resident. Our role is the work: cutting, collecting, removing. We do not submit anything for you and we will not certify a plot as compliant. The rules and deadlines change from year to year and vary by município, so check with the câmara municipal about the parcel in question. Access sorts the work into two shapes. A fenced development plot with a site gate is a mechanical job when a machine can pass the hoarding and a lorry can stand nearby, and it moves fast. A terrace or ground-floor garden in one of the residential towers is the exact opposite: hand tools only, and every bundle of cut growth taken out through a lift, a service corridor or a garage ramp, with the condominium and the building management informed in advance. We agree that route before a date is fixed. On plots that have sat behind hoarding, fly-tipping accumulates out of sight, and we regularly clear bagged waste, tipped rubble from nearby works, pallets, fencing panels and abandoned items, sometimes over an uncovered chamber. Anything of that kind is photographed and reported before we continue. Even here, no tree comes down before it is identified. Cork oak and holm oak are legally protected in Portugal and olive trees are regulated, and mature olives were planted in some of the landscaped areas and courtyards of this district, so the question is live rather than theoretical. If a tree is protected or regulated, its removal is a matter for an authorisation and not for the crew on the day. All cut material is taken to a licensed disposal point, and none of it is dealt with by fire on site. If a plot is about to go into construction, tell us, because stumps, levelling and plant access make it a different scope from a seasonal cut.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we are asked in Parque das Nações:
This district is entirely planned. Is there anything here to clear?
Less than almost anywhere else we work, and we would rather be straight about it. There is no wild ground along the river front. What is real: plots around Cabo Ruivo and the northern edge still waiting on a project and now full of growth, terrace and ground-floor gardens in the residential blocks that nobody has maintained, and older pockets towards Olivais Sul that were there before the Expo layout. Those are proper jobs; the rest of the district is landscaped and maintained.
The plot belongs to a company and nobody visits it. Can you report on its condition?
Yes, and that is often how these start. We visit, photograph the plot, describe the height and density of the growth, note the access and list what has been tipped there, then send that with a written quote so a decision can be taken without anyone driving out. We invoice companies as readily as private owners. The legal position stays with the owner though, and since the rules and deadlines change from year to year and vary by município, check with the câmara municipal for the current requirement.
My terrace garden has become a thicket. How do you get the waste down from an upper floor?
Through the building, with permission arranged first. In practice that means the service lift or the garage ramp, a booked time slot, protection for the lift car and the floors, and the cutting staged so material goes down as it is produced rather than piling up on the landing. We check the building's rules at the visit, because some managements restrict when access routes can be used, and it is better to know that before a crew is standing in reception.
