The volume of waste is the second characteristic challenge of these offices. A head office with many staff generates paper, packaging, cardboard and capsules in quantities that quickly outstrip the bins provided. We collect by stream, carry it to the building's collection point and tell the facilities manager when a particular stream is systematically full, because that is normally solved by adjusting the collection contract rather than by more trips from our team. In offices with confidential paper collection, we respect the defined stream and do not open or empty those containers. There is also the matter of the areas that tend to fall outside contracts and are then noticed: fire escapes, storage corridors, the tops of cupboards, exposed ducting, skirting and partition glazing. We put them into a periodic plan, monthly or quarterly, so they do not build up. That plan is written into the contract, with the month each task falls in, so nothing depends on memory. At workstations we clean the contact points and handle IT equipment dry, without touching documents. We work Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 8pm, with shifts placed before staff arrive or after they leave; we do not cover early-morning shifts or Sundays.
