Offices in Lisbon sit in buildings that have almost nothing in common with one another. There are converted floors in the old blocks of Baixa and Chiado, with parquet, tall doors and a single flight of stairs; there are practices in Arroios and Estrela set up inside former flats; and there are service buildings in Avenidas Novas and Campolide where several companies share a floor, a reception desk and the same restrooms. Before proposing a plan we visit the premises: we count the workstations, measure the common areas, check how many restrooms serve the floor and establish how the building is entered outside business hours, whether by key, alarm code, access card or signing in at the concierge desk. The order of work never changes and starts with what cannot wait. Restrooms and the kitchenette first, then waste collection, then desks and the points everyone touches: handles, switches, telephones, lift buttons. Floors come last, vacuumed or washed according to the material. IT equipment is cleaned dry, with microfibre, never with a product sprayed over towers, keyboards or screens. Papers stay exactly where they are: we do not tidy desks or open folders, and when a room holds case files in plain view we ask for it to be locked, or we clean it with someone from the company present. Frequency follows the real movement of the office. A three-person practice is usually covered by one visit a week; an open floor with thirty workstations needs a daily pass over the restrooms, the kitchenette and the bins. We restock washroom consumables and tell you when stock is running low, rather than letting the paper run out halfway through the morning. Paper, packaging and coffee capsules are separated into the building's own streams. We work Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 8pm, which in practice means coming in right after closing or before the doors open to the public; we do not run overnight or Sunday shifts, and we say so before any contract is signed.
