That is the usual situation and yes, we quote for both parts. The bathroom gets the full strip — grout haze, silicone smears, cement film, frame and glass, then sanitising. The rest of the flat gets a decontamination pass: high surfaces, wardrobe tops, curtain rails, grilles, skirtings and floors. Cleaning only the worked room in an occupied flat leaves the dust that will keep landing on it.
The windows across the front were replaced. Is the adhesive from the protective film a problem?
It can be a real one. That film is fine for a few days, but left on a frame through a Lisbon summer the adhesive bakes and bonds, and removing it then is slow and occasionally leaves a haze on the profile. If the film is still on your new windows, take it off now rather than waiting for us. Where it has already cooked on, we will treat it as carefully as the profile allows and tell you honestly what remains.
Do I need to be at home while you work?
It helps at the start and at the end, and not in between. At the start we walk the flat with you so you can see the marks we think are permanent and confirm what the trades still owe. At the end we walk it again. If you cannot be there, a key handover and photos work fine — plenty of our jobs in Alvalade run that way, particularly for owners who have moved out during the works.
