Post-Construction Cleaning in Lisboa
Lisboa has almost every kind of building site at once, and a post-build clean has to be adjusted to each one. A gutted first floor in the Baixa or Chiado, a flat opened up behind a 1950s facade in Areeiro, a shell in Arroios turned into two units, an office landlord handing back a floor in Avenidas Novas — the residue is different in each and so is the method. We work across the city and start by looking at what the works actually were: demolition of old plaster leaves lime and brick dust, a new bathroom leaves cement and silicone, a full replacement of joinery leaves adhesive film and swarf. Then we agree access, loading and where the debris goes.

About our service in Lisboa
The rule that matters most is sequence. Bulk waste out, then top-down, then floors, and nothing wet until the dry dust has been extracted. Skip that and you make work: plaster and cement dust wetted with a mop becomes a fine paste that keys into unglazed tile, into the open grain of old boards and into the joints of stone, and removing it afterwards is a much bigger operation than the original clean would have been. Central Lisboa flats add their own traps. Stucco cornices and plaster mouldings cannot be scrubbed. Original parquet does not want water. Marble and lioz thresholds are alkaline and will not take an acidic descaler, so cement haze on them has to be worked off slowly, and even then not always completely. Glass and frames are where the hours go. In a city rehab the windows have usually been replaced or reglazed, and the new units come out of the works coated in a mix of dust, mastic smear and residue from the protective tape. Runners and drainage slots have to be cleared out before anything is washed, otherwise the grit rides over the glass and marks it permanently. On that subject we would rather be blunt than optimistic: scratched glass, paint cured into a grout joint, mortar set into porous stone, silicone smeared beyond its bead — none of that is dirt any more. We identify those marks, tell you what caused them and what will happen if we try to force them, and let you decide. We also do not take on the builder's snagging. Missing grout, paint touch-in, a badly seated skirting or an unfinished bead is work for the contractor who did the job, or for our bricklayer service. Construction waste leaves to an authorised facility, which we handle. And because completion dates in this city slip, we book the clean against the real end of the works rather than the date on the schedule, and we would rather move it than send a team into a flat where two trades are still working. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and we are closed on Sunday. A second, lighter visit after everything settles is common and we say so up front.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we get from Lisboa owners, landlords and project managers:
Should the clean happen before or after the furniture goes in?
Before, without question. The point of a post-build clean is to get the dust out of a space while every surface is still reachable — the backs of radiators, the tops of doors, inside the wardrobes, the window runners. Once beds, sofas and boxes are in, the fine dust that is still airborne settles into fabric and behind heavy items and stays there. If a delivery date is already fixed, tell us and we will work backwards from it.
The builders say they will do a clean at the end. Is that the same thing?
It is usually a sweep-out, and it is worth having, but it is a different job. A builder's tidy-up removes the bulk: offcuts, bags, the worst of the debris. What we do afterwards is a strip — dry extraction of dust from every horizontal and every recess, frames and runners, floors treated according to what they are made of, then sanitising. Both are useful. The confusion normally comes from calling both of them cleaning.
Can you deal with cement haze on a lioz or marble floor?
Often we can reduce it a great deal, and we will not use the quick route. The products that shift cement fastest are acidic, and acid on limestone or marble dulls the surface permanently — the floor is then worse than when we arrived. So it is done mechanically and with neutral products, slowly, and on a badly soiled floor we may recommend a specialist polish rather than pushing further ourselves. We will tell you which situation you are in once we have tested a small area.
